Year 5 went on a trip to the Grant Museum of Zoology to refresh our learning about Darwin and evolution. There were so many specimens all packed into one room that wherever we looked, there was always something new to see! From enormous African elephant skulls to snake skeletons to micro-organism slide specimens, we saw thousands of organisms. Some of them were preserved so that we could see them as they would have looked when they were alive and many of them were over a hundred years old!

Many of the specimens were grouped by family so it was clear for us to see the relationship between different families and classes of animals. Seeing a gorilla skeleton next to a human skeleton really helped us to see how similar we are!
