Year 3 trip to Creekside

On Tuesday, Year 3 went to the Creekside Discovery Centre to explore the River Ravensbourne.

When we arrived, we went into the classroom and reviewed our previous learning about rivers. We also learnt about how the Thames is a tidal river, which also makes the Ravensbourne River a tidal river because its a tributary of the Thames.

We then went onto the bridge to see how high the river comes at high tide and what the river path looks like during this time.

When we got back into the classroom, we were given the opportunity to have a look at some artefacts that have been found in the river. We had to think about what material they were made from, what they may have been used for and what industry it is from.

After lunch, it was river wading time! We put on our waders and headed down to walk in the river.

We also had the chance to do some river dipping and we caught some river creatures.

Shortly after, we cleaned our waders and got ready to catch the bus and DLR back to school!
