The film club at St Margaret’s are looking for the best material to make some blackout blinds for their cinema showings.
Years 5&6 had an assortment of materials to test to see which ones let the most/least light pass through.
After firstly making scientific predictions about which would be best, we used data-loggers to record the amount of light that could pass through the materials.

We recorded the findings in a table, including a reading with no material as a standard for comparison. Then we used bar charts to display our findings in a clear and concise way before making conclusions about the best and worst materials for the film club’s blinds.
