This week year 2 started learning about significant and influential people from history and living today. We discussed what qualities and achievements make people significant. The children could give examples of important people such as Barack Obama and the Queen. We then focused on Mae Jemison, an American engineer who trained as an astronaut and became the first black woman in space in 1992. Year 2 made profile collages of Mae with words describing her.
