Year 2 RE: Making Charoset

Year 2 had a culinary adventure in RE today. We followed the recipe for Charoset- a traditional Jewish food that is eaten during the Seder meal as part of Passover celebrations. We mixed chopped apples, sultanas, cinnamon and apple juice to create a kind of apple paste. This paste reminds Jewish people of their ancestors who used cement to build pyramids in Egypt before they were released from slavery. The children were excellent chefs and loved eating the Charoset with Matzos (unleavened bread). A delicious, fun and informative afternoon in year 2.
