LKS2 used last week’s work on symbols to begin examining symbolism within the Nativity story.
We learned that this important story is packed with symbols significant to Christians around the world and talked about what they may represent.
Our first challenge was to order the Nativity story – tricky when you haven’t had a St. Margaret’s Christmas performance since Year 1!
We then highlighted symbols within the story and discussed what they meant.
Here are some of the children’s responses:
The angel represents God communicating with us.
The gifts from the Magi represent God giving the world the gift of Jesus.
The star represents that Jesus is the light of the world and that we should follow him.
The Magi represent that Jesus would grow up to be king of the world.
