Shark tracking in LKS2

We are coming to the end of our Blue Abyss topic, which has been an amazing half-term’s worth of learning for adults and children alike.

Ocearch shark tracker

We investigated Marine Biology today and the children were amazed to find that, should this be your chosen career, you can spend your time studying the incredible diversity of ocean life and get paid for it!

We then looked at the Ocearch shark tracker and tracked sharks in real time. We chose an animal to focus on and tracked back using the ‘pings’ from their tags to find out where they have been. We then asked ourselves why they travel around, whether they have a ‘home’ territory and why we think they go where they do.
