Today year 2 completed their investigation into the best materials to reduce the sound of an ipad alarm. Last week they tested newspaper and fabric and today plastic was put to the test. The children made predictions, recorded their results and wrote their methods and conclusions. Fabric was found to be the best sound absorbing material. Year 2 worked really hard on carrying out this experiment and learning about the importance of a fair test, predictions and results.

In the second half of the lesson the children were set a challenge to build a small house using different materials. The children tried building out of straws, magnetic shapes, lego and plasticine. They reviewed their builds considering the properties of their materials (eg strong, flexible, rigid, magnetic, weak, waterproof).
