LKS2 investigate shadows

Years 3 and 4 spent Thursday afternoon exploring the world of shadows and working on making scientific predictions.

We learnt the words transparent, translucent and opaque to describe how much light different materials allow through.

We established that shadows are when light is blocked by a solid object and chose different materials to put between our torches and our desks. Having done this, we observed the materials carefully, discussed whether they were transparent, translucent or opaque and made predictions about what their shadows would look like.
