We had a brilliant day yesterday, celebrating books of different genres, from non-fiction to fairytale, graphic novels to age-old classics. It was lovely to see so many children dressing up and equally lovely to see those who don’t enjoy doing so perfectly happy to get stuck in to all the activities feeling comfortable in school uniform.
We started the day with a craft activity, where we decorated potatoes in an attempt to make them resemble our favourite literary characters. This was followed by a delightful session sharing Nursery’s favourite books with them before we wrote character profiles for our favourite book characters, good or bad, to go in our gallery area by the bookcase.
No World Book Day would be complete without reading a story, and we had great fun sharing ‘I Want My Hat Back’ by Jon Klassen. It seems we rather like an antihero in Year 3!
