As part of our Rainforests topic, we have been studying climate and weather and learning the difference between them. We then split into pairs to research the weather in tropical areas of the world.
Each pair was given a city or area which they had to find on a map of the world. We then used the website http://www.yr.no to research the weather for the current day and the next day. The children studied satellite imagery and meteorological data before writing and presenting weather forecasts (complete with introductory music!) in front of a map, using the symbols that you see on a real TV weather forecast. Everybody did a fantastic job and there were some broadcast-standard presentations!
