Cracking codes and filling in fractions

Our Maths investigations this week and last week have really had us thinking but this brilliant, resilient lot have risen to the challenge.

Last week, we used our knowledge of fractions, multiplication and division to divide squares composed of rectangles in various different ways.

This week, we had a blank 100 square and a mind-boggling array of symbols. Year 3 had to work out which symbols represented the digits 0 – 9 and then fit them together like a jigsaw. Stunned and concerned faces soon turned to delighted ones when everyone realised that they could indeed crack the code with some collaboration, creativity and resilience. St. Margaret’s children at their very best!
