Year 3 were quite literally climbing the walls at Sutcliffe Park today. As we are coming to the end of our Mountains topic we thought that we should try out climbing for ourselves. Every child took to it like a duck to water (or should that be a mountain goat to a mountain?) and, after our safety briefing, they were off! The courage, independence, collaboration and resilience on display was astounding. It takes guts to jump backwards at vertiginous heights and to trust that the auto-belay will lower you down! From helping each other with attaching and detaching harnesses to encouraging and racing each other, everyone threw themselves into it and a fantastic time was had by all. I suspect they will sleep well tonight…
