For the past few years, nearly every child in the school has visited the Unicorn Theatre at least once. We feel that the experience of live theatre is an essential part of a fully-rounded education and can inspire and delight children in so many ways.
The Unicorn Theatre produce award-winning work for children and young people from the ages of 6 months to 18 years (you are still allowed to visit if you’re older than that!) and they produce shows year-round, not just during term time. Their education and outreach work is outstanding and they support us as a school with brilliant resources to help us all get the most out of the show that we’re seeing, both before we go and long afterwards.
Bearing in mind that a ticket to see a show at the Unicorn can cost less than going to the cinema, why don’t you go and see for yourself? You couldn’t hope to meet a friendlier bunch of people, and as they make shows for children, they expect their audiences to behave like children and respond to what they’re seeing – there’s no shushing or tutting here! They also run relaxed performances for visitors who might struggle to cope with the usual theatre environment.
They offer family events and free arts and craft sessions on Saturdays as well as holiday and community programmes. It’s a short and easy stroll from London Bridge station and they serve some of the best ice-cream I’ve ever tasted!
