The Daily Mile

Yesterday I attended the Healthy Schools conference and had the pleasure of meeting and hearing from Elaine Wyllie, the former headteacher who started ‘the daily mile’ – a simple but highly effective way of getting children fitter.

As you may know, we are piloting various approaches to getting children more active. We are now signed up to the Daily Mile, joining a growing movement of schools who see getting children active as a priority for school improvement.

The department for health has recommended that children should be partaking in at least 60 minutes of rigorous exercise per day and at least 30 of these minutes should be in school.

That’s quite a challenge for us all and one that we are up for!
