To celebrate International Women’s Day 2018, in assembly we looked at four Disney princesses: Snow White and Cinderella (from parents and grandparents childhoods) and Anna (Frozen) and Moana, who have been created for the current generation of children. We reflected on the differences between Cinderella and Moana and one pupil made the point that Moana was more adventurous. This positive message was reinforced by reminding everyone that girls now have far more opportunities to do adventurous activities, including cubs and scouts (not to mention the activities offered in school) and this is something to be encouraged.
