Lewisham Football ⚽️

This morning, the boys football team competed in the Borough Finals, following qualification before half term. The top eight teams in Lewisham competed, including several larger schools. The tournament was played as a league, with each team playing one another. In the final standings, St Margaret’s Lee finished 5th in the borough, which is something to be proud of.

Some of the highlights included a magnificent double save by K Hayter against Deptford Park, an excellent Radley goal to break our scoring duck in match three and a halfway line last minute winner by Gros Desirs against Dalmain. There were several good team goals, including a Lang to Martin to Gros Desirs 1-1 after going down 1-0 and a great poacher’goal from Martin following a deflection off the post from a Radley shot.

St Margaret’s came close to more goals on several occasions, most notably with a breathtaking strike from Ghosh that hit crossbar and may have crossed the goal line! (Unfortunately no goal line technology)It was a great team display, well supported by the B team on the sidelines.

Congratulations to Rathfern, who will go on to represent Lewisham at the London Youth Games in Crystal Palace.
